so lebanon was pretty good. maybe not the kinda film you’d want to watch at 1 on a sunny afternoon…, but this was the last time possible! we’d kinda hoped to go as a class (our Arab Israeli class) - ya know, like, one last thing together related to our course before we all graduate. Only 3 of us from the course ended up there…, but since the class only had 8 people in it anyway it was like, 40%! but yeah - realllly claustrophobic (a bit like das boot or something), as it is shot mostly in the tank and through the scope. there was no information on why Israel were there, or who they were fighting, but i still dug it - ultimately it was an anti-war film so i suppose the context doesn’t matter too much. it was cool though - our group was made up of scottish, lebanese, slovak, and norwegian. take that multicultural britain! afterward we went to a little italian place for lunch and had calzone and espresso. i’m pretty sad now though. the realisation that i’m graduating etc. errrrrrrm.
i think this is easily my favourite song on the new record…, and maybe my favourite of his ALL TIME OMG. nico muhly’s arrangement is just gorgeous and beth orton’s backing vocals (especially at about 3.10/3.15) will make you melt.
even the day after my last exam i’m still arguing with people in BBC comment boxes. i’m ‘Giraffe-Knees’ if anyone is interested in my thoughts on the Arab-Israeli conflict (comments 66 and 71 are probably the chunkiest). it is a bit of a lengthy read and even i wouldn’t be bother with it unless i was interested in the topic. just putting it out there though. ya know.
last song evan played last night, zo good. was jammin’
DUDE. how was the grown ups show? kinda bummed i couldn’t make any (although to be honest coming all that way and not doing a show in scotland is ludicrous). i would have probably just sulked about moaned about BSM anyway i guess.
